Cherry Dr.Pepper Cake

I made this cake today for a special occasion. It went well and hope everyone likes it.

Cherry Dr Pepper is my beverage of choice so I was excited to try this recipe.

This is, without a doubt, a brilliant 5-Star recipe! It is perfect as standalone cake.

The format of recipes and videos make learning so much easier.

I will definitely make it again.

What do you need to make Cherry Dr.Pepper Cake

15 oz (1 box) Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix

12 oz Dr. Pepper Cherry soda

2 cups maraschino cherries

3 tbsp cherry juice (from the maraschino cherry jar)

1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature

4 cup icing sugar

1 cup chocolate shavings (optional)

How to make Cherry Dr.Pepper Cake

FIRST STEP:

Preheat an oven to 350F and grease a baking dish.

In a mixing bowl whisk together the chocolate fudge cake mix and Dr. Pepper cherry soda until a smooth thick batter has formed.

SECOND STEP:

Stir 1 cup of maraschino cherries into the cake batter.

Pour the cake batter into the baking dish and smooth down with a spatula, transfer to the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes.

THIRD STEP:

While the cake bakes prepare the cherry frosting, in a bowl whisk together the icing sugar and softened butter until pale and creamy.

FOURTH STEP:

Then stir in the cherry juice to form a bright pink icing.

Remove the baked cake from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool.

Once the Cherry Dr. Pepper cake has cooled, spread a thick layer of frosting over the surface.

Scatter the remaining maraschino cherries over the top of the cake and top with chocolate shavings.

Store the Cherry Dr.Pepper Cake in the refrigerator and serve when ready.
