When it comes to takeout, I hesitate these days! Not only do you have to figure out the whole pickup, distancing, safety issue you also have to think about cost!

I like to save money, stay home, and know exactly what is in my food so this homemade Crockpot chow mein recipe hits the spot. It’s also really nice that my Crock Pot chow mein is simple to make so you don’t have to worry about spending the whole day in the kitchen just for one meal.

Here’s what you’ll need to make Crock Pot Chow Mein:

This recipe has a few more ingredients than our normal slow cooker recipe but they all play a role and for the most part they’re here to build the many flavors you want in a good chow mein!

You’ll need ground beef, onions, minced garlic, salt and pepper to taste, celery, Chinese veggies, brown gravy mix, soy sauce, hot sauce, and cooked egg or rice noodles!

How to make Crockpot Chow Mein:

You’ll see that this is truly the easiest way to make your own chow mein at home. Thankfully, that makes this recipe even more worthwhile versus ordering takeout. You’ll save some money and you’ll get to feel great about making such a delicious meal.

In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. 

Transfer to a 3 to 4 quart slow cooker and sprinkle it with salt and pepper. 

Stir in the celery, Chinese vegetables, gravy mixes, hot sauce and soy sauce. 

Cover and cook on low until celery is tender, 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally. Serve over noodles or rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 bunch celery, sliced
  • 2 cans (14 ounces each) Chinese vegetables, drained
  • 2 envelopes brown gravy mix
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce like Frank’s Red Hot
  • Hot cooked egg noodles or rice

Instructions
