Crockpot Pulled Pork Recipe

Today we’re making a Crockpot pulled pork recipe that is easy enough for weeknight dinners and so perfectly juicy and tender that you’ll want to serve it at every summer BBQ you host.

This is one of my favorite recipes for the slow cooker. It’s a long, slow heat cooking process that really breaks down the tissue and fat in pork roasts. After that, they’re packed with flavor, so tender and juicy, and they shred like a dream.

You already know that the slow cooker is a magician in the kitchen. It makes life so much easier. I use the Crockpot for everything from beef ribs to chocolate peanut butter lava cakes…because it’s just that versatile!

Another reason I really love making this pulled pork in the Crockpot is the fact that we don’t have to constantly check it.

Sure, it’s nice to put things in the smoker and cook them that way, but then they need to be pretty closely monitored. With the slow cooker I can just prep everything, put it on low, and go about the rest of my day!

For the broth and the pulled pork itself we will need a pork roast, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, root beer soda, hot sauce, onion powder, paprika, and allspice.

We will also be making a delicious barbecue sauce and for that we’ll need ketchup, honey, brown sugar, salt, onion powder, apple cider vinegar, and a package of rolls or bread for serving up these tasty sandwiches.

These tasty pulled pork sandwiches have coleslaw on top!

How to make pulled pork in the slow cooker:

In a mixing bowl, combine the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, root beer, hot sauce, onion powder, paprika and all spice. 

Spray slow cooker insert with cooking oil. Add pork roast and pour liquid over the roast. Secure the slow cooker lid and cook on low for 8-9 hours or on high for 6-7 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°. 

Open the slow cooker and allow meat to rest for 15 minutes and absorb the juices.

Using two forks, shred the meat. Remove the meat from the slow cooker, drain, and place in a bowl.

you can serve this up on any type of bun, like these longer buns which make room for coleslaw on top!

In a small bowl mix the remaining ingredients together 

Add your BBQ sauce to the meat and fold in until the meat is well covered. Serve on sandwich rolls/buns.

This recipe will serve between 8 and 10 people depending on the meat/fat ratio of your roast and the exact size! You can always vacuum seal and freeze leftover pulled pork once it is shredded.

How to serve these pork sandwiches:

Serve these tasty sandwiches up however you like! We like them with coleslaw or with pickles. You can serve them on slider rolls, bread, or even longer hotdog or hoagie rolls!

No matter how you serve them, it’s going to be delicious! Try topping your favorite salad with some of this tasty pulled pork and sauce…it’s a new favorite around here!

Ingredients

  • Ingredients for Slow Cooker Broth:
  • 3-pound pork roast
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup root beer soda
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon allspice
  • Ingredients for the BBQ Sauce:
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 package of sandwich rolls/buns

Instructions
