What do you need to make Grandma’s Buttermilk Cornbread
½ cup unsalted butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup fine cornmeal
¼ cup caster sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
¼ tsp fine salt
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
How to make Grandma’s Buttermilk Cornbread
FIRST STEP:
Preheat an oven to 375F.
Place a skillet on the stove at medium heat and add the butter. Once the butter has melted pour ¼ cup into a bowl and set aside.
SECOND STEP:
Into a mixing bowl add the all-purpose flour, fine cornmeal, caster sugar, baking powder and salt.

In another bowl add the eggs and buttermilk, whisk together the ingredients until smooth.

THIRD STEP:
Combine the bowl of wet ingredients with the bowl of dry ingredients, whisk to create an even batter.

FOURTH STEP:
Pour the cornbread batter into the buttered skillet and smooth out using a spatula.

Transfer Grandma’s buttermilk cornbread to the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes.
Remove the cornbread from the oven and drizzle the remaining melted butter over the dish.
FIFTH STEP:
Allow the cornbread to cool for 15 minutes then slice, serve warm or at room temperature.
