Easy Chicken Parmesan
There is nothing like slicing into a chicken breast that is coated in breadcrumbs, covered in marinara and melted mozzarella.
This recipe creates the perfect bite to go along with your favorite pasta or zoodles.
Instead of pan-frying then baking this chicken breast recipe, you will layer it in your slow cooker and allow it to do all of the work.
While not exactly like an Italian grandma would make, it is full of flavor and close enough to keep your family happy at mealtime.

What do I Serve this Chicken Parmesan With?
Traditionally, chicken parmesan is served over a bed of spaghetti.
While this is still my favorite way to serve this slow cooker version, I also love it with really any pasta I have on hand.
If you are trying to watch your carbohydrate intake, zoodles or spaghetti squash is a great option to serve this recipe with at dinner.
You can also check out some of the lower carb pasta options like Impastable and Carba Nada for an alternative that is similar to classic pasta.
Can I Make This Keto Friendly?
Yes! In fact, that is one of the reasons this has been so popular in my house.
I can use a sugar-free jar of pasta sauce and skip the breadcrumbs and everyone can enjoy this regardless of their diet plan.
If you are making this keto style, you can use the pork rinds ground down as a breadcrumb, but I find they dissolve in this recipe more than a traditional breadcrumb.
I think just searing the chicken before putting it into the pan would add a similar texture without the crumbs needed.

- Marinara sauce
- Garlic cloves
- Basil
- Italian seasoning
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Boneless skinless chicken breasts
- Mozzarella
- Breadcrumbs
- Olive Oil
- Pasta or zoodles if desired

How to Make Chicken Parmesan
Prepare your chicken breasts by trimming any excess fat and patting them dry.
Next, you will heat olive oil in a skillet then add in the basil and garlic and cook for just 1-2 minutes stirring regularly until fragrant. You will add in your chicken at this point searing on both sides until just browned.
Remove the chicken from the skillet. Pour 1/2 the jar of marinara sauce into your slow cooker, then add the chicken, and top it with the remaining sauce.
Place the mozzarella over the sauce, cover and cook as directed.
For added crunch, once the chicken is done cooking, you can use some of the olive oil and the breadcrumbs to cook down and crisp in a skillet to sprinkle over the top when serving.

Slow Cooker Chicken Parmesan Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 jar marinara sauce
- 2 cloves garlic
- Basil
- Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, divided
Instructions
- Prepare four boneless skinless chicken breasts by trimming fat and patting dry.
- Season the chicken with basil, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper on both sides.
- In a skillet, heat 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil. Add garlic and cook until fragrant (about 30 - 60 seconds).
- Add the chicken, quickly searing each side.
- In your slow cooker, pour half of the bottle of marinara sauce.
- Add your chicken and cover with the remaining marinara sauce.
- Top with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
- Cook on high for 3 hours.
- In a skillet right before serving, heat up 2 tbsp olive oil. Add the breadcrumbs and cook for a few minutes until crisped.
- To serve chicken, top with mozzarella and breadcrumbs. Great over pasta, as a sandwich or on it’s own.
