Slow cooker teriyaki chicken is a delicious dinner that includes chicken breasts cooked to perfection with ginger, garlic, honey, and soy sauce. The chicken is then shredded and drizzled in dazzling sauce before being served over a bed of rice, making yet another successful and easy crockpot dinner!

How to Make the Homemade Sauce for Crockpot Teriyaki Chicken

Forget bottled teriyaki sauce, this homemade version is simple, easy, and only requires six common ingredients: soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger. All you need to do is stir these six ingredients together, put the chicken into your crockpot, then pour your yummy homemade sauce over it!

What Goes Good with Teriyaki Chicken?

  • Personally, I love to pair my favorite brown rice with this dish. If you want more of a flair, check out my friend Sommer’s homemade lo mein noodles.
  • If you want a meal that is a little more filling or nutritious, you can turn this great recipe into slow cooker teriyaki chicken and vegetables by either steaming or sautéing some fresh broccoli or pairing it with a thawed bag of frozen mixed stir-fry vegetables. All you need to do is combine it with the chicken and sauce before you serve the dish.

Now, this recipe is an exciting one for me because I am a big teriyaki chicken fan. I love ordering it at my local Japanese restaurant. Not only is this slow cooker recipe simple and quick, but you will also capture the same delicious flavors found in the restaurant version.

I love using crockpot recipes because they save time and energy. They are very convenient, especially when you have a busy day ahead. This slow cooker teriyaki chicken has quickly become a favorite not only of mine, but of my family! I love being able to put something on and not have to worry about it for a while.

Just How Nutritious is Chicken Teriyaki?

Believe it or not, chicken teriyaki utilizes a lot of healthy ingredients. However, soy sauce may contain a bit too much sodium, so consider replacing it with a low-sodium soy sauce for this recipe.

What About My Rice? Can I Cook it in the Crockpot?

Absolutely. In fact, most things can be cooked in a crockpot, although you will need to cook it separately from the teriyaki chicken. Also, it does take longer than cooking it on the stove, but it can still be done.

What if I Want to Add Vegetables to My Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken?

This is not a problem. In fact, it is very common to add vegetables, including asparagus, broccoli, bell peppers, and snap peas to stir-fry dishes. Just keep in mind that the majority of vegetables must be added later on in the cooking process to prevent them from becoming soggy.

There is no need to dread weeknight dinners anymore! This slow cooker recipe is one of many that is simple, easy, and still quite nutritious.
