What do you need to make Old Fashioned Apple Dumplings
Apple Dumplings:
2 pie crusts
4 apples, peeled and cored
Filling
½ cup caster sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground nutmeg
4 tsp unsalted butter
Sauce
⅔ cup brown sugar
1 cups water
¼ cup unsalted butter
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
How to make Old Fashioned Apple Dumplings
FIRST STEP:
Preheat an oven to 425F and prepare a baking dish.
In a bowl combine ½ cup caster sugar, 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, set aside.
SECOND STEP:
Lay the pie crust on a work surface and divide into 4 pieces.
Place each of the peeled apples into the centre of each piece of dough.
Fill the core of the apples with the prepared cinnamon sugar.

Top each apple with 1 teaspoon of unsalted butter.

THIRD STEP:
Fold the pie crust inwards and tightly wrap each apple, seal the pastry with water.
Transfer each old-fashioned apple dumpling to the baking tray.
FOURTH STEP:
Place a saucepan on medium heat, add the brown sugar, water, butter, cinnamon and vanilla. Stir the sauce until the sugar has dissolved.
Pour the sauce into the baking dish at the base of the apple dumplings.

FIFTH STEP:
Bake the apple dumplings for 45 minutes in the preheated oven until golden brown and crisp.
Remove the Old Fashioned Apple Dumplings from the oven and serve, topped with the sauce from the baking dish.
